Park Scene

Nikon D7500, 100-400mm @100mm, 1/400 sec., f/5.6, ISO 250

Taken at a local park where I live. Initially I just passed on this photograph, but after looking at it some more I decided to see what I could do with it. So after some minor adjustments (exposure, crop, deletions), I came up with this. I like that the front of the photograph is in focus and that the rear is out of focus. I think the center plant moves you through the seen and the lack of focus in the back creates depth and curiosity about where the path leads. But I do find the tangle of branches in the lower right and the branches and leaves in the top right to be distractions.

White Flowers

Nikon D7500, 18.0-140.0mm @140.00mm, 1/500 sec., f/9.0, ISO 250

Had hoped to post something newer this week. I got some new photographs that I took this past week, but have not gotten a chance to look at them. So decided to use this one from September. Not a flower person so not sure what type of flowers they are, but as it was almost fall and these were still in bloom I couldn’t resist taking a shot.

Ferry Landing

Nikon D7500, 18.0-140.0mm @140.0mm, 1/640 sec., f/8.0, ISO 200

My family and I spent Thanksgiving Week at Ocean City, MD. While there we went out to Assateague Island National Seashore, where we hiked some of the shorter trails. Above is a photograph of the building at Ferry Landing taken from the “Life of the Forest” boardwalk. Would have prefered a different sky, but still like that I captured the reflection in the marsh pool.

Lands Run Falls

Nikon D60, 18.0-140.0mm @30.0mm, 1/100 sec., f/5.0, ISO 400

A week ago my family took a vacation to the Shenandoah NP region of Virginia. Spent much of the week hiking and driving along Skyline Drive. One of the hikes we took was to Lands Run Falls which is where I took this photograph. In addition on Friday morning while drinking my coffee on the deck of our rental, I saw this bear walking across the back lot. This was the second bear I saw, the first was crossing Skyline Drive, he was about 60 ft. away.

Black Bear

Sunrise Acadia NP

Nikon D60, 18.0-140.0mm @ 35mm, 1/400 sec, f10, ISO 20

Yet, another photograph from Acadia National Park from our family vacation in 2017. This one is from Cadillac Mountain and it was taken after sunrise, 8:10 am, and was looking easterly. You can see that Egg Rock Lighthouse and Schoodic Point are directly in front. I like how the grass is back lit and while I missed the golden hour, there is still an overall warm tone to the photograph. I hope to get back there some day and actually plan out my photographs, maybe be on Cadillac Mountain when the sun does come up. Thanks for visiting my blog.

Waterfalls

Nikon D7500, 18.0-140.0 mm f3.5-5.6, 5.0 sec, @f/29, ISO 100

Took this picture the same day as my previous post “Rocks and Water“. I wanted to post something newer, but I haven’t gotten a chance to get out to take any photographs lately. So I’m going through older shots and trying out new Lightroom and Photoshop processing. This was another long exposure 5 sec. I lightened the falls and tried to take down the surrounding rocks. Hope everyone likes it.
