Sometimes you have to look at a photograph twice before realizing you like it. I was going back over some photographs I took in June and saw this one. At first, I did not like it, but after converting it to B&W and playing around with the contrast/exposure, I changed my mind.
Small waterfall from Longwood Gardens. There was a larger one near this one, but this just filled the frame perfectly.
Another photograph from my trip to Longwood Gardens. There were so many opportunities for photograghs.
Another photograph from our trip to Longwood Gardens. This of the Meadow Garden. While this is good I feel that there might be a better composition. I would also prefer that the 3 people were not there. I tried to remove them with Photoshop, but I need to practice a little more.
Took a trip to Longwood Gardens in PA a few weeks ago and just fell in love with all the orchids. Probably should have written the names down, but too late now. Here is what I felt was one of my better compositions that day.
Yes, it has been a while since I posted and I am finally getting around to looking at some photographs I recently took. The one above is a pond/swamp in Fort Clinch State Park on Amelia Island in Florida. This was taken while we were hiking the Willow Pond Nature Trail. Although we didn’t see any alligators here, we did see one later as we got closer to the end. At first, it looked like a log, but looking closer, it was an alligator.
This photograph was taken the same day as my previous post. I don’t often see turtles in this lake, but these two must have been taking advantage of the sunny day. As I tried to get closer they swam away.
In addition to photographing landscapes, I enjoy photographing wildlife. Birds seem easy to capture since they are in the open the most. I photographed these two at a local park.
Saw this group of trees in the Hunting Island State Park, SC a few weeks ago. Kept looking for a position where I could get a nice foreground leading to the trees and still capture the opening in the clouds. I wasn’t able to get the opening where I want it, but I liked the water that seems to lead you to trees. The image was taken in the evening and I was facing east.
